Frederick Fisk (known as Fred) was a builder on Canvey Island from the 1920s, with the family continuing the business into the 1970s.
Many buyers came from London as this genuine advertisement from London And Suburbs Old And New, Useful Knowledge For Health And Home published in 1933 illustrates.
John Fisk Estate Agents was established on Canvey Island in 1965 by Fred's son John Fisk. A local builder, John was also the winner of the inaugural 1961 little Americas Cup.
Having helped to successfully establish the Canvey Island Branch, in 1967 John Pring -- who was then Canvey Branch Manager -- invested into the business allowing John Fisk to concentrate on his passion for sailing and boat building. An additional branch in Benfleet soon followed enabling Fisks to serve the whole of Castle Point.
In 2004 John Pring's own son James moved from the Benfleet Branch to open the Docklands Office, bringing Fisks' unique brand of service to the Docklands and East London market.
To this day, Fisks remain a family-run estate agency.
